Residents Need To Know About This New Stipulation Regarding Deer Urine

CWD, or Chronic Wasting Disease, has been detected in 26 states, but Louisiana is not one of them. CWD has been found in deer urine, and it can remain on the property indefinitely after it has been introduced. Therefore, the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is taking proactive measures to prevent issues from arising. According to wlf.louisiana.gov, it is unlawful to possess attractants that contain natural deer urine or other bodily fluids. There is an exception to the rule though. Products from manufacturers that are actively enrolled and participate in the Archery Trade Association Deer Protection Program can be used.

Proposed Deer Hunting Dates For Area 1 In Louisiana In 2019-20

There are Deer Areas 1-10 in the Pelican State. They each have specific dates for hunting with particular weapons. For instance, in Deer Area 1, bucks and does can be hunted via archery equipment October 1 through January 31. Primitive firearms are allowed to be used in this location on November 9-15 and January 20-31. Guns for still-hunting only can be utilized November 16 through December 6, then again, on January 6-19. Finally, firearms with or without dogs are permitted December 7 through January 5. There are only three areas for hunting turkey in Louisiana, A, B, and C. Youths and physically challenged individuals are allowed to hunt these locations on March 28th and 29th of 2020. Meanwhile, others can do so in Area A from April 4 to May 3, 2020, Area B April 4-26, and Area C April 4-18.
